Nile Air has signed an agreement with charter operator Mayfair Jets to launch seven direct routes linking the Red Sea resort city of Hurghada with Germany and Switzerland, expanding access from some of Europe’s largest tourism markets.
Under the deal, flights to Hurghada International Airport will operate from Cologne, Nuremberg, Hanover, Berlin, Erfurt, and Leipzig in Germany, as well as Zurich in Switzerland.
The move is aimed at increasing tourist arrivals to Hurghada, one of Egypt’s main holiday destinations, and expanding the airline’s presence in Europe.
Ahmed Orabi, Nile Air’s chief commercial officer, said the agreement forms part of the carrier’s international expansion plans and reflects continued demand from European markets, particularly Germany, which remains one of Egypt’s largest sources of tourists.
Ayman Farouk, deputy chief commercial officer, said the new routes are expected to boost visitor numbers to Hurghada, a major destination for beach holidays and diving tourism on the Red Sea coast.
The agreement comes as Egyptian airlines and tourism operators seek to attract more visitors from Europe and diversify access to the country’s resort destinations through direct connections.
Nile Air said it plans to continue expanding into additional European markets and increasing direct links with Egyptian tourist destinations.
Partnerships between airlines and tour operators have become an increasingly important channel for bringing charter and leisure travellers to Egypt, particularly to Red Sea resorts such as Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh.
